About the project

Encouraging East Iceland’s community to take action in their towns.

Client Sector: Municipality Service Solution

When people realize they can make things happen for their communities by putting their voices out there and taking some action, everything can work out. Úrbótaganga presents a great idea to involve the people in their communities by inviting them to share suggestions for improvement. These include from paint missing from crossing paths, wholes on the roads that need to be fixed, lack of trashcans in an area, and cleaning dirty ponds/rivers. Úrbótaganga also schedules walks for people to join where they examine different areas of the towns and take note of what it needs to be done to improve. In the end, they will decide with the municipality if the community can do this or if some more significant help is needed from companies and the government.

With the creation of this new website, we were aiming at a smooth design for people to be able to add their improvements easily and for these to be available to find and read by others. We used brighter colors to make the projects’ status recognizable as finished, in progress, or on hold. And also, we made it ready to be liked and shared on Facebook (something vital to get more people involved). The development elements used in the website allows the user to find their current location to use on the go when submitting an improvement suggestion. Take a look at the final result!
